What is CoolSculpting?

For many people, it can feel like no matter how much effort is put into exercising and eating healthily, it is nearly impossible to lose a substantial amount of body fat. If this is the case for you then you should consider CoolSculpting in Buckinghamshire (also known as ‘fat freezing’ or cryolipolysis treatment).

An alternative to liposuction surgery

Most people will have heard of surgical methods to reduce body fat, such as liposuction, which generally works by having a surgeon inserting a thin tube (a cannula) into the body in order to break up fat before suctioning it out. If, however, you would prefer a non-surgical method of reducing body fat, then CoolSculpting is a strong alternative.

Instead of breaking up body fat, CoolSculpting freezes the fat, or rather, fat cells, which causes them to break down – a process known as lipolysis. The fat cells will then die over the next couple of weeks, and once they have died, your body will dispose of them using its own lymphatic system. Typically, this process is carried out on the stomach or the back, and it works to reduce fat in these (and other) areas of the body without damaging the surrounding tissue or skin.

What can CoolSculpting do for me?

The aim of CoolSculpting is to target and reduce visible bulges all over the body. This means that CoolSculpting can be used to effectively reduce fat in the chin, abdomen, thighs (both inner and outer), back,  the banana roll just underneath the buttocks and upper arms to name but a few. Furthermore, the whole CoolSculpting procedure takes very little time, with most procedures lasting a maximum of approximately one hour. Most patients also find CoolSculpting to be a very comfortable treatment, so much so that many patients are easily able to fall asleep whilst the procedure is taking place.

On the whole, CoolSculpting also has very little recovery time or side effects associated with it. This is in large part due to it being a non-invasive procedure; it does not require surgery, and therefore it does not cause any open wounds, meaning there is no risk of infection.

How long do the effects last?

Given that CoolSculpting cools and causes the fat cells to break down, this means that once the cells are gone, they’re gone for good. This allows the effects of CoolSculpting to be long-lasting. However, the effects are able to last even longer when CoolSculpting is supplemented with a good diet and regular exercise. Indeed, CoolSculpting should never be seen as an alternative to a healthy lifestyle, but rather as a treatment that helps to eliminate body fat in specific ‘problem areas’ (such as the abdomen, arms, thighs etc as mentioned earlier) that are resistant to diet and exercise.

After the treatment, your body will continue to flush out dead fat cells for the next few weeks, meaning that noticeable results will usually start to show after four to six weeks. These results will continue to get more noticeable and more fat will be removed from your body up to 6 months in total.
