Bad Habits that Cause Damage to Your Teeth
A smile is your priceless possession and you cannot own one if you do not have a nice set of teeth. As much as you like to keep your teeth in their perfect form, sometimes, you unconsciously do things that harm your pearly whites. Here are some habits your dentist might warn you of:
- Brushing Too Hard. You read it right. Brushing, if done too vigorously, is harmful to the teeth. Hard brushing can wear down the tooth enamel, which can soon keep you from enjoying ice cream and other cold foods and drinks.
- Opening Things with the Teeth. Apart from eating, surely, you have discovered many other amazing uses of your teeth like unscrewing a bottle cap, breaking off a tag and opening a bag of chips. Using your teeth might save you time than locating your scissors or bottle opener from your disorganized drawer. However, you would not be happy if in doing so, you would have one of your teeth chipped.
- Gulping Down Soda. Soft drinks contain acids that weaken the tooth enamel and cause cavities. To quench your thirst, go for the liquid form, not the frozen one.
- Tooth Grinding. Whether triggered by stress or done involuntarily, teeth grinding put pressure on the teeth and create weak areas or micro fractures.
